  • Design Engineer - Recuperator/Heat Exchanger

    We are looking to hire a Design Engineer to provide general mechanical design support for the recuperator throughout its lifecycle in support of cost-down, manufacturability and performance improvements. The role will directly report to the Work Package Owner.

    The Design Engineer will create 3D models and drawings and undertake hand-calcs to support design as well as implementing design changes to support system performance upgrades and life improvements. You will be supporting the development testing; sub-component test through to product test, as well as undertaking DFMEAs and partake in PFMEAs as part of overall engineering quality processes.

    You will be expected to have all round experience in:

    • Providing mechanical design support
    • Providing technical support throughout the lifecycle; from Supply Chain through to in-service
    • Working closely with suppliers regarding cost-down activities
    • Design experimental component and sub system rigs as part of an overall development plan
    • Hand-calcs to support mechanical design

    The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication methods and manufacturing processes (welding, brazing etc) as well as the ability to use 3D CAD and create component drawings to industry standard, such as, BS8888. Alongside this, you will have experience of designing pressure vessels, piping (or similar).

    It is not essential, but highly desirable that you will have experience with the design of waste heat recovery systems, heat-exchangers or recuperators, alongside knowledge of industry codes and standards such as ASME, PED, PD5500, HEI.

    We are looking to hire an experienced Supply Chain Planner to join our dedicated team in Coventry. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative engineering Company, and use your skills and extensive knowledge within a supportive, engaging environment.

    As part of the Supply Chain team, you’ll be working closely with our manufacturing planning team. This is a key role in ensuring appropriate coordination across the departments, as the right candidate will be the contact between planning and external suppliers efficiently planning the flow of goods from our network of suppliers into Bladon MT. As the Manufacturing Planners define our production needs, the Supply Chain Planner will ensure these needs are met through effective coordination of incoming parts.

    The Supply Chain Planner will be responsible for;

    • Logistics Planning – Plan efficient flow of goods with suppliers, monitor & report risks, NPI, volume ramps, factory shutdowns/holidays etc, key document review & preparation
    • Supplier Expediting – liaise with suppliers for updates on delivery schedules, reschedule shipments where necessary for business, project and operational teams, manage & curtail risk
    • Supplier Delivery Performance tracking and reporting out on – track PO’s in order to manage & motivate supplier, monthly delivery & quality performance review management
    • Demand Forecasting – manage & provide key information for operations, projects & development leads (supplier forecasts, capex forecast, schedule/demand plans etc)
    • Inventory & Warehousing – On time & precise GRN/Receipt Monitoring, SAP Operational Monitoring, Incident Management, “Bridge” between Bladon & Suppliers
    • Reporting – compile, collate & review reports, use reports for strategic review of current statuses, short/medium & long-term improvements

    We are looking to hire a Purchasing Manager who will report into the Head of Supply Chain based at our Manufacturing site in Coventry. You will manage and develop our specialist technical buyers and administrators within the Supply Chain team to ultimately ensure a high performing supplier base to meet the fast paced demands of the business as we take our MTG to volume production. As well as taking full responsibility for the teams KPI’s, you should be able to respond to challenging situations in an innovative manner.

    The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for

    • Management of suppliers to support the company's manufacturing requirements throughout a steep ramp up to volume manufacturing. Ensuring cost effective and efficient sourcing, buying, and control of the supply chain process to support our production plans
    • Delivering against targets for the Supply Chain function to support this growth
    • Taking the lead in improving supplier performance metrics
    • Working with the Head of Supply Chain on long and medium term Strategic Purchasing plans to deliver Material Cost Down targets
    • Negotiating, managing and analysing material cost spends and capital investments

    We are looking to hire a Performance Engineer based at our site at Coventry. You will be supporting Bladon Micro Turbine development and the production of micro gas turbine generator units. We are seeking an engineer who can interpret and create models from test rig and operational unit data in order to report on current performance and propose opportunities for improvement.

    We are looking for an individual who has experience with hybrid power generation systems and the capability to interpret operational data into an accurate analytical model, to complement and support the existing capabilities in the performance team, This is not just a desk based role, in order to gather the data for analysis, it is imperative that you work closely with the development and test and performance teams to measure and run tests in the required manner.

    As a Performance Engineer you will be responsible for:

    • Working with the Lead Performance Engineer in order to refine and extend the steady state and transient unit performance models
    • Post processing of data from unit test and rig tests
    • Evaluating and quantifying areas of performance improvement opportunities
    • Reviewing development unit and field unit data on component failures to provide support for subsystem work package owners

    The ideal candidate will have an Honours degree in Engineering, (or any other relevant scientific discipline) and several years of relevant working experience in a similar role. Experience within programming, specifically Matlab would be preferable.

    Buyers key responsibilities;

    • To manage the current, and source new, supply options – reducing costs and improving quality

    • Supplier identification and monitoring of performance and competitiveness including reporting out on said performance

    The day to day responsibilities of the role will be as follows:

    Office based support:

    • Co-ordinating investigations & drafting responses to FRACAS, NCIOR, CCAR
    • Drafting ECRs, securing approvals, chasing completion on ECR actions
    • Drafting ECOs, securing approvals, driving implementation
    • Drafting Deviations & Concessions, driving containments & corrective actions
    • Organising & attending design reviews, taking minutes, recording actions, following up & closing out
    • Organising & attending DFMEA reviews, taking minutes, recording actions, following up & closing out
    • Maintaining accurate records on all prototypes (allocation, pedigree, modification records, etc.)
    • Building & maintaining the complete electrical Bill Of Materials for upcoming production builds
    • Tracking and ensuring release status on all components for upcoming production builds
    • Tracking order status and ensuring availability of parts for upcoming production builds
    • Completing purchase requisitions and managing all non-production purchasing activities for the department
    • Performing the PCB Librarian role (after a suitable period of familiarisation & training)

    Lab based support:

    • Organising the electronics lab to achieve and maintain high standards of 5S
    • Organising, storing, labelling, and maintaining stocks of frequently used components in the electronics lab
    • Conducting regular EHS audits, documenting results, following up & closing out actions
    • Implementing and operating a test equipment calibration service to bring all necessary equipment into calibration
    • Maintaining all test equipment in good working order, organising repairs / replacements when necessary
    • Booking in/out test equipment, tools, etc. on loan to other departments.
    • Supporting design engineers by performing simple modifications to PCBAs (no previous experience required)

    The ideal candidate will be qualified in electronics, degree is preferable but not essential, along with good working knowledge of electronics with the ability to recognise different types of components, identifying their key characteristics and explain how they are used in a circuit. You will have had exposure to, and familiarity with, operation of engineering change and engineering release processes with the ability to operate at high level and level detail.

    It would be advantageous for you if you have worked in an electronics design or manufacturing environment with PCB test and repair experience to component level, as well as a good hand in soldering skills including surface mount components with responsibility for organizing and maintaining electronics lab facilities. Along with this, experience of PCB layout, ideally in Altium, with generating and maintaining component libraries would be a distinct advantage.
